TCP
Transmission Control Protocol, described in RFC 793. The major transport protocol in the Internet suite of protocols providing reliable, connection-oriented, full-duplex streams. Uses IP for delivery.

TD
Traffic Director (Cisco)

TDA
Temporal Data Authority

TDM
Time-Division Multiplexing

TDP
Tag Distribution Protocol, an old Cisco protocol for distributing labels in an MPLS network. TDP was standardized and became Label Distribution Protocol (LDP).

TDR

telnet
The virtual terminal protocol in the Internet suite of protocols described in RFC 854. Allows users of one host to log into a remote host and interact as normal terminal users of that host.

Terabeam
Company that makes wireless radios. As of 2004-09-13, NETS uses them to connect CG and FL on VLAN 312 between cg2-ml-c1-gs port 1/1 and fl2-3095-c1-gs port 1/1. The Terabeams do not have SNMP management.

terminal server
A small, specialized computer that connects many terminals (serial lines) to a LAN. Terminal servers typically use the TELNET or LAT protocols to allow a terminal user to connect to hosts on the network.

terminator
The end of an Ethernet segment.

TerraPatch
Terra Patch or TerraPatch(?) is a reference to the area of the hand hole on Stout Street owned by the Auraria Campus that is the point-of-demarcation between the campus and ICG. The City has an above ground patch panel in the same area and they coined the term. The Terracentre was the building where fiber was installed into the building by both the City and Campus. See http://newmedia.colorado.edu/silverandgold/messages/326.html.

TFT
Thin-Film Transistor

TFTP
Trivial File Transfer Protocol. A simplified version of FTP, this protocol is often used to download software from a Unix machine to a network device such as a Cisco router. The tftp program on Unix systems implements TFTP.
