CISL News
NCAR Distributes Premier Climate Reanalysis DatasetThe Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) and NCAR have partnered to distribute what scientists are calling the gold standard for climate studies.
NCAR Allocates Over 12 Million Processor Hours to Climate
and Atmospheric ResearchThe Computational and Information Systems Laboratory (CISL) of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) has allocated 12 million processor hours to 13 projects over the next 18 months for climate modeling in support of the multi-agency Climate Change Science Program.

Stellar Insights: Using the TeraGrid to Understand the
StarsOur understanding of the Sun, and other stars like it, has been continually growing. But the last 20 years have been revolutionary. Improved technologies and observational capacity have led to entire new fields of study like helioseismology and asteroseismology that look at the global oscillations of the Sun and other stars to deduce their internal structure.
CISL Supports NCAR ASP ColloquiumCISL provided cyberinfrastructure and consulting support to NCAR's 2008 Advanced Study Program (ASP) summer colloquium. Graduate students, model developers, and mentors worked together to produce, document, and archive hundreds of test runs of 13 dynamical cores being considered for next-generation atmospheric models. Results and methodology are now available to the research community via a new science gateway.
