The Mass Storage Services Group (MSSG) recently embarked on a project to study the critical problem of managing MSS data growth in the face of significant increases in computing capacity within SCD and in the growing body of observational datasets.
As part of an overall strategy for handling this increasingly critical problem, MSSG plans to form strategic partnerships with interested users to cooperatively develop effective data management strategies for efficient MSS use.
This is an opportunity for MSS users to better understand their options for managing their data growth and GAU charges.
It is also an opportunity for MSSG to better understand our customer needs and identify requirements for the future.
MSSG emphasizes that this service offering is a personalized, one-on-one, long-term strategic service. It is not intended to replace more tactically oriented services such as the Customer Support Services or SCD Consulting Services.
Interested users are invited to contact Erich Thanhardt at erich@ucar.edu or by telephone at 303-497-1281.
