DWAG Minutes
Attendees: Amy Bauer, Bev Broach, Lisa Donovan, Donna Duprey, Anita Monk-Ryan, Karl Werner and Justin Young.
DataWarehouse
Migration Progress – Lisa Donovan
Lisa gave an update on the DataWarehouse Migration project where IT is migrating the server from Informix to a SQL server. They are currently in the development stage with reports approximately 50% completed. The project should be completed by August and will run both systems in parallel through at least September. The end-user should not see anything different but may notice the reports run faster. One change will be that the HR reports will not require the end-user to enter their BiTech login. By using Business Views, the need to enter the login and password will not be necessary. The table names will also be simplified, which will be helpful for Crystal Report writers.
Donna will need to work with the Crusers group to add a new driver for the new database. She will provide a training session and one on one training as needed.
Lisa is the point of contact for this project. She is available to answer questions. Amy will add her to the Meeting Maker invitations for the next few DWAG meetings.
Reports based on Period of Performance – Amy Bauer
As a follow-up to the action items from the March 10 meeting, Amy suggested that one helpful report to be available to run by Period of Performance (POP) vs. Fiscal Year would the Account Status with Month Revenue & Expenses Multikey report (but not “Most Recent” version). Another helpful report to run by POP suggested was the Account Budget Summary report. Not all reports would need to be run by POP, but even if one or two could be run that way would be very helpful. Donna will look into this again after the migration.
BudFinTools
Update – Justin Young
Anita had recently presented the Chart of Account process to the BudFinTools group. The interviews have been completed and the group collected extensive notes and examples. They came up with requirements, tools, and success indicators. Currently they are going through and separating the requirements into groups or “bins” such as reporting, staffing, budgeting, etc. from the interviews. They have taken about 12 hours to go through 4 groups. There were 26 groups total and have come up with 53 requirements from the 4 groups they have reviewed. Once they have completed their reviews, they will go back to the groups for guidance on prioritizing the requirements.
7i BiTech – Karl Werner
Karl gave an update on the 7i BiTech project. Karla Edwards is the lead for this project. They are in a test environment and the steering committee is meeting now.
Advance Notice Reports – Donna Duprey
There was a problem with the Advance Notice reports pulling data from multiple databases. The report links broke during testing and the migration to the new server. They plan to take all the information from BiTech rather than from multiple databases. This should help with the inconsistency of data reported. Donna will send the test group an update on the status.
