Update on IT Reorganization (Winkleman)

Shawn reviewed the IT reorganization memo for the group. The DataWarehouse is now part of the Engineering group, with Joe and Donna on the same team. The reorganization should not impact the services provided to DWOW. Ingrid asked for clarification as to what the roles were for the various roles mentioned and who to contact. A PR campaign for DWOW in general was suggested.

BiTech Budget Transfer Transaction Information (Monk-Ryan)

Currently the budget transfer information is not sourced into the DataWarehouse. Anita gave a demonstration and provided hand outs with detailed instructions on how to run budget transfer reports in BiTech.

UOP Reporting Needs

Ingrid had presented a list of UOP Reporting needs as an outcome of an UOP business plan meeting at the previous DWAG meeting. Donna and Ingrid reviewed the list and edited out those reports that are already in existence or did not require any action. Joe, Barb, Karl and Donna also reviewed the list. Some information is still needed regarding some of the questions. It was determined that more education is needed such as communicating with the users what is available in DWOW. It was discussed that CMM training for BiTech and DataWarehouse is offered regularly by the Sponsored Agreements Office. Mike Moran has also given Donna input regarding reporting needs gathered from the NCAR Administrators. The list was similar to Ingrid’s list from UOP.

Shawn gave an overview on the UCAR-wide reporting strategy. A new committee has been formed to look at the company-wide reporting issues in context of business needs re-engineering. Some of the concerns they are trying to address in the committee are that customers are confused about what is available to them currently for reporting, IT does not have enough resources to support reporting requirements, and summary information is not available for existing BiTech and DWOW reports. The UOP needs are being absorbed into other reporting strategies within IT and UCAR-wide.

Shawn mentioned that Karl is asking the DWAG for their top 10 reports ran in BiTech to determine what to move to DWOW for testing.

The new HR module produces reports that look similar to the DWOW reports in Crystal Reports. By March 19, Donna asked for the DWAG input with comments of the top 10 HR reports to be used with live data. Donna will return the input to Spectrum who will develop reports for DWOW. Eventually Donna would like to gather input from DWAG regarding all aspects of the DWOW reports.

Donna will work on adding the month data field to the DataWarehouse so that scheduling of reports with the most recent month end information could be processed. DWAG needs to report to Donna which reports they would like to have scheduled.

ACTION ITEMS

Account Information Report:  Waiting for Janice’s OK.

Report Scheduling: By the May meeting, email to Donna a list of 4-5 specific of reports for a suite to be scheduled on DWOW. Donna will proceed with entering the field into the database.

UOP & New DW Requests: Donna will provide training and user education to the UOP admin group.

Testing: DWAG is to report to Karl the top 10 reports ran in BiTech to determine what to move to DWOW to test.
