To get to the CAS2K5 Workshop site at the L' Imperial Palace Hotel in Annecy, France, you may choose to fly into Paris or Geneva. Listed below are some various modes of travel and directions to assist you in arriving at the Workshop.

PARIS to Annecy by train --

If you choose to fly into Paris and take a train, we've found that the scenery is wonderful and the trains are clean and comfortable. It's about a 3 ½ hour trip.

From the Charles de Gaulle or Paris Orly airports, travel to the downtown train station (Gare de Lyon). There is a TGV (rapid train) that leaves the Gare de Lyon station for Annecy several times daily. The one way train costs approximately 75-100 Euros per person. You must make reservations for the TGV. These can be made with any travel agency.

Please check out the fares and schedules at http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/fares_schedules/index.htm

GENEVA to Annecy by bus –

It is also possible to take a bus from the Geneva Airport to Annecy .
You take a train (~ 15 minutes) from the airport to Main Geneva Train Station at the city center - 2.2 Swiss Francs. Then walk 3 or 4 blocks (~10 minutes) from the Train station (Gare CFF) to Main Geneva Bus Terminal (Gare routiere de Geneve).
Next, take a bus from Geneva to Annecy Bus Station - 14 Swiss Francs.
Then catch a taxi from Annecy Bus Station to Imperial Palace Hotel - 11 Euros.

The bus from Geneva to Annecy departs every 2 hours and the travel time is approximately 1 hr 15 minutes.  Bus schedules, maps, tickets, etc. are available at http://www.gare-routiere.ch/

GENEVA to Annecy by car --

You may also choose to fly into Geneva and rent a car. This is fairly easy to do. It's about 25-30 miles form the Geneva airport to the hotel in Annecy . Please check with your Car Rental Company of choice.

If you are renting a car from the airport and driving on your own, exit the airport and follow the GREEN highway signs towards France . Continue to follow green signs to Annecy .

After you pass the French/Swiss border, follow the sign to Annecy (marked N201). You are exiting the highway to the right, following direction Lyon , Dijon , Paris . Shortly thereafter, take Sortie 13, following the GREEN (not blue) Annecy sign. Go around the rotary until you see the sign “ Annecy par R.N.” Avoid all BLUE signs indicating Annecy (these take you on the highway, which takes longer and is expensive).

Stay on the N201, which takes you through the towns of Cruseilles and Pringy. After leaving Pringy and as you approach Annecy , turn left toward Thônes. Continue straight, passing an ESSO station on your left. Enter a rotary and exit on the opposite end again, following the sign to Thônes. Continue straight, through a traffic light. You are now on Avenue de la Plaine.

Enter a second rotary. Go through the flashing yellow light in the rotary and exit following the sign to Thônes and L' Imperial. Go straight through the next light. When the road ends ( Lake Annecy and the Imperial Hotel/Casino are directly in front of you).

Geneva to Annecy by taxi --

It is also possible to take a taxi from the Geneva airport to Annecy . The cost is approximately 105 Euro – one way.

Whichever mode of travel you choose to come by, we look forward to seeing you at the Workshop!
