This is the first
of a two-part series on how to design better websites. It will be based on practical
examples from the Fall 2000 redesign of the SCD website.
In this session we will look at the elements of
developing a good information architecture: 1) identifying the audience and the
purpose of the site, 2) analyzing content, 3) defining usability criteria, and
4) storyboarding the site structure.
We will then look at how SCD borrowed the overall
look of the UCAR website design and overcame some of its drawbacks.
